Pediatric Kidney Transplant Outcomes

The Upstate Pediatric Transplant Outcomes have been excellent. The one, three, and five-year Pediatric Kidney Transplant survival in children transplanted at Upstate in the last ten years has been 100%.

However, it's important to note that the number one reason for any complication, after transplant in children, is rejection related to inconsistent medication taking. This can be particularly problematic in adolescents. It is important to be aware of this vulnerability for children after transplant. In addition, it is vital that adolescents begin the transition toward self-care early. This means understanding their disease, medications, and proper diet. Please know, we are here to help. Our program has a Pediatric Transplant Coordinator charged with helping to achieve a successful transplant transition for your child.
